AcroYoga
Last weekend, I participated in an AcroYoga workshop -- a combination of Yoga, Acrobatics, and Thai massage -- with my friend Donna. Using counter-balancing as our main tool, we performed various yoga poses to help each other into deep stretches. We also did some amazing static-trapeze-like postures -- things that I had never dreamt that I could do.
It was interesting to reach deeper and deeper to grow the mutual trust and understanding between Donna and me as the class progressed. In the beginning, our eyes would barely meet and hold for more than 5 seconds. At the end of the class, we instinctively understood the other person's body language allowing us to be in perfect synchronisation.
The key to any balancing position is to find the sweet spot where you experience a sense of weightlessness and all physical stress immediately disappears -- then you can simply hang out in that pose for as long as you want.
I am not sure if I am articulating this well. But play around with the "Tree pose" to experiment. You'll see what I mean.
