what AM i doing?
The big question that's thrown at me each time I am in some social situation: what are you doing these days? I've been trying a variety to answers to gauge reactions.
- "Nothing": This one gets raised eyebrows followed by a pitiful look in the eyes. Comments, of course, are not far off -- Cheh, you went to study in the US and now you're sitting at home enjoying full body massages and home made meals? Why don't you just get married?
- "Oh, I'm looking for a job in a non-profit organisation": Non-profit? Why don't you work in one of these MNCs, so many call-centres in Hyderabad. Otherwise, why don't you at least get married?
- "I'm working on some ideas, I want to start something of my own": Why bother? Get married and then decide what you want to do. Anyway, you should plan on having kids soon, you're getting old!
The moral of the story, all roads lead to marraige.
