In retrospect

So the reason I'm a part of nomadlife is that my friend Devrim, who I know from AIESEC started it with other AIESECers to create an online community of the cool people who want to share their stories. He bugged me for days to get my act together and start this blog. I still don't meet his expectations with my lethargic posting habits but at least I'm here.

In March, my friend Tulika and I decided to travel around China. Devrim hooked us up with AIESECers in Beijing and we stayed with an incredibly hospitable crowd. We wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves half as much if we had been on our own without any friends there. In Shanghai, we met more AIESECers and went away on a weekend trip with them. I've talked about this before, but midnight MahJong, bicylce races, and hours of conversations -- we forgot we had never met before.

Matthew Neagle, also an AIESECer was moving to Hyderabad (my hometown) in May to work with Google for a few months. He reached out to me when he saw my blog and realised I'm an AIESEC alumnus. Matthew was my first yoga student at Urban Yoga. He was also my biggest advocate and introduced several other Googlers to my class. He left last night and I was sad to see him go.

These are just two stories.

I'll be the first one to admit that I was a bit skeptical of AIESEC when I was in college. I met a lot of great people, but I still kept a distance for some reason. But in the last few years AIESEC has touched my life again and again. It hit me a few years ago, after leaving college, that this is an incredible network of some cool people in this world.

Drake, the shirt is not gay, YOU are gay! Why would a fat-ass such as yourself wear a shirt like that? To impress people with how worldy and open minded you are?! Do you even do yoga? NO! That's just like buying a sky-diving t-shirt without doing the jump. I would actually pay money to see you spend ten minutes on the treadmill, lazy POS. A simple hike on the Great Wall almost killed you... so before you start leaking like a faucet all over the place how about you actually try yoga first and then start wearing the shirt. Now go sit down before you hurt yourself, I WILL EAT YOU MUTHERTRUCKER POS!

Apoorva, do you want me to go off on you? Cuz I can do that too!

wow, digs. you're really wound up. just breathe, ok? it'll help you relax.

perhaps you can borrow the shirt from drake. the calm of yoga may pervade your life anyway.
