Heritage Goa
Was in Goa for a couple days (pictures coming soon). We travelled from the south to the northern tip, looking for "isolated" beaches and realized that might be hard given that we are in India :). But I did find a couple of "off the beaten track" places to stay that I would highly recommend.
Siolim House
Located only 3km away from the beach in North Goa, this old portugese bungalow has a really quaint feel to it. The owner is a really easy-going banglorean and treats you like family. No A/C though.
Nilaya Hermitage
If you've got the dough, you've got to check out. It's quite far from the beach -- about 7km, but it's on a hill from where you get an amazing panaromic view of Goa. The beach, and the endless green hills, the wide rivers that run through the state and the old city -- all in one view. Most people don't think of Goa as a green state with rolling hills. This place is quite the reminder. Being far away from the beach doesn't seem to be an issue.
